The “financial ability” component plays a crucial role in the success of a Family Class Sponsorship application. It is in fact the deciding factor when it comes to this category of sponsorship applications.
The “financial ability” of Family Class Sponsorship applications can broadly be classified into two. They are:
Financial ability requirements for family class applications in any province except Quebec
In this category, the sponsor must be able to prove that he or she meets (or exceeds) the Minimum Necessary Income (MNI), also known as the Low-Income Cut-Off (LICO) with respect to the sponsor’s family size, as established by Statistics Canada, unless:
The sponsor is eligible for sponsoring the individual only if the below deductions from the “total family income” meets or exceeds the values provided in the table below.
Note: Workmen’s compensation payments for permanent disabilities are waived-off from this requirement.
